Well another Crufts has gone by and I hope you all had a great day if you were there.
It was wonderful to meet up with so many people who were either owners or admirers
of the breed and this is now becoming an annual event and growing each year. Hope
you all had a safe trip home. What a great piece of TV when the Cirneco's had their
30 seconds of fame with Clare Balding on Friday's Crufts coverage. The general interest
in the breed has definitely reached another level as more visitors seemed to know
the breed and had no problem in getting to grips with the name. May be the Cirneco
will no longer be called the "WHAT DOG" after all.
Saturday was by far the busiest day with the visitors filling the isles of the Discover
Dogs booths from 10:00am and well past 4:00pm. Once again hats off to the Kennel
Club for allowing all the breeds to be showcased and long may they continue to do
The Article that appeared in the Telegraph in January describing the Cirneco's ears
as bat like and that these new breeds are just a gimmick for dog fanciers. The author
should spend a day at Discover Dogs and see the genuine interest in the breeds and
the visitors wishing to understand the history and nature. If there was never any
change or new items then we would all still be drinking plain coffee having never
been given the choice of the latte or cappuccino and driving a Ford popular car.
For the third year running, Giltedged Yana Anharbn was the Top Brood Bitch not only
in Import Register but also across the whole Hound Group which for any breed is a
great achievement but for an Import breed to beat all other hounds is quite something.
As you may or may not know, David is unable to continue as the Club Secretary but
would like to thank the members who have shown their support for the Club and enabled
it to flourish during it's first two years. Due to work commitments he is unable
to continue in this role. It is hoped that the new secretary and the committee continue
in their hard efforts to maintain the breed in this Country. Just a reminder to all
members that the AGM will be on the 27th May. Notice's will be out soon with all
the details. It's hoped that this years talk will encompass the recent changes to
the Italian Breed Standard. For more information you can still contact David at firstname.lastname@example.org.
